Translate This 9.03.12

In the latest release of Translate This I fixed a bug which affected wordpress installations that are not located in the root of your domain. This means that if your blog address is something like

http://my.domain.com/

everything worked fine, while if you have something like that

http://my.domain.com/myblog/

the old version would have returned a 404 error. This error was due to an absolute path used to indicate the iframe location and was fixed with the suggestions of Marco Battistoni.

In this release I added a very useful JS script that has the duty to hide the ‘Translate This’ icon on your editor when you move from visual to HTML mode. This is necessary as the script still do not support code editor for translation. I will try to realize that in the future but in the meantime I believe that is safer to disable the icon so that people do not try to translate in HTML mode.

I also improved the graphics inside the popup, moving elements and fixing some styles, and added language flags inside the selectbox. Icons have been realized by Icon Drawer and all the rights about them are their property.

9.03.09-1

This is a miny-minor release, needed to fix an incompatibility issue with contact-forms-iii. That was suggested by Rajesh in the comments .

In this release I fixed paths problem that where caused from the change of the plugin folder from translate to translate-this. That was my bad fault .

I installed this wonderful plugin on a new site I'm building as I need Greek text, however, when I look at the preview of the post all I get are question marks instead of the greek text. Is there something I need to add?or do?

Hi Helene,

that's quite strange cause google usually returns the correct values. Are you sure you got the possibility to read complex strings? For example can you read correctly this page http://blog.andreaolivato.net/el/software/ ? If not it's probably a wrong configuration on your computer… what OS are you using?

Hi Andrea, yes I can read the page you referred me to ok…what is OS? I should say my site is self-hosted and I loaded WP with fantastico on my cpanel….I would ideally like to have it all in Greek but I've been really confused about how to do it…I'm no web-designer and all I've done on my already existing site is my own struggles….the site I'm trying to put this on is http://www.interiordesigners.gr…thanks for your trouble

OS = operative system like windows,linux etc, but as you can view the page I linked you that's not a matter of that.

From your site it seems like you installed the english version… Why don't you try installing the greek version as you want to have your website completely in english? http://el.wordpress.org/

You can just download the greek version, upload to your hosting and you're done! I would avoid using automatic installatin from any control panel…wordpress installation in quite easy!

I've had an awful time trying to get it working by manual uploading. I had to edit my wp-config.php file but I keep getting error messages coming up. I think I'm giving up for tonight, unless you have some more enlightening tips to give me – I was soo happy too to get the fully greek version. Oh well, another day tomorrow!

I don't know how is your hosting configured but usually if you got a cgi-bin folder that mens you're running php as a script from cgi. This also mean you should put everything inside the wordpress folder… however it seems like the virtual host points to the wrong folder as you should have the wordpress folder as the root one…

Perhaps it's better if you restore wordpress via the cpanel and then try to just install the language file instead of reinstall wordpress from scratch…

I like your concept to put the translator in backend instead of automatic translation by the visitor. It will prevent user missundertanding the translated text, prevent translator engines to overhaul if we have massive visitors who translate frequently and also we can edit the translation before we publish them.

One request, can you make this plugin to be able to installing it from wp-admin? not by uploading it via ftp.
